No Child Without a Christmas 2016 - Part 2

Ann Arbor Annuity Exchange decided 13 years ago to help change the holiday season for local families. No Child Without a Christmas is our annual community-based charitable program organized by Sales Trainer Dina Mestel. In conjunction with a local chapter of the Midwest Salvation Army and their “Adopt a Family” program, we provide warmth, food, necessities, and a little extra holiday cheer to our “adopted” families.

In 2016, this group includes six families, three of which have single mothers, and a local veteran. One of our families had their house burn down and are living with extended family during the rebuild. Twelve children were purchased for in total.

All the children received a new winter coat, hat, boots, and gloves, as well as clothing, toys, and games. Each family received personal requests in addition to household needs. We provided items like housewares, linens, small appliances, and cleaning supplies.

AAAE employees and management also gathered funds to stock the food shelves of these families that will last well beyond the winter months. Thousands of pounds of non-perishable food was shared through the coordination of one of our former employees and the Jackson Community Food Pantry. We also presented each of the households with a gift card to purchase those perishable food items that are staples of every American’s holiday meal.

It is a huge undertaking, but one that has brought many of our employees together in the spirit of the season. Their participation and generosity is greatly appreciated. It makes the holidays a bit more meaningful for us all.
